Louis’ Story of Hope by Wendy Clark
Louis was only a toddler when he arrived at ICC’s Patmos Children’s Village in the D.R. Congo. He was frail, malnourished, and utterly alone. Illness had taken his parents, and with them, his sense of safety.
But God had already prepared a place for him.
At Patmos Village, Louis found more than food and shelter; he found a family. Loving houseparents welcomed him into their home. Brothers and sisters, once strangers, became his own. They prayed with him, taught him, and showed him the steady, unconditional love of Jesus. Slowly, his body grew stronger. His smile returned. His heart began to heal.
School opened new doors. Louis worked hard, earning his diploma and setting his sights for the future even higher. Nursing became his calling. “Patmos Village gave me more than an education,” Louis says. “It gave me hope, faith, and a purpose.”
Today, Louis is a nurse in his community. He tends to sick children, comforts the hurting, and offers the same compassion he once received. His hands bring healing, but his heart brings something even greater: the love of Christ.
