“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 NIV

Day-by-Day, year-by-year, ICC children at the Sweet Home Children’s Village grow, develop, flourish and transform into caring and successful young adults. This doesn’t happen by chance. It happens through the love and care they receive at Sweet Home and that YOU make possible through your financial and prayer support.

Keeping the Children Dry and Cooler

Even though children grow and develop, the children’s homes don’t grow along with them and often need repairs. That has been the case recently with the roofs on buildings. Thanks to the dedicated support of ICC family members, much needed roof sealant work has been completed to prevent leaks in the children’s homes and other buildings. Some of the homes are almost 30 years old. The new sealant has been working well during the current monsoon season. There have been no leaks, and the new sealant keeps the rooms a bit cooler. On behalf of the Sweet Home family, please receive this big thank you for making this possible!

Thank you for helping with the roof renovations! The roofs are leak free and the homes have better temperature control.

Summer Holiday: A Time to Learn. A Time for Fun

During the summer holidays, the children kept busy with tutoring in subjects like English, math, and music (keyboard). However, there was also time for summer fun. In India, temperatures can soar well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The children enjoyed trips to the beach. This was a reward for the children for keeping their rooms clean and for helping with the overall cleanliness of each home.

The children enjoyed a special trip to a nearby water park to cool off and beat the heat. The children enjoyed the playground and delicious food which made the day special. This kind of activity is especially memorable for the  younger children, and the older children help to supervise and take leadership roles in managing the trip’s safety.

There was also plenty of time for fun with trips to the beach and water park.

Celebrating with Two Happy Couples

It is a joyous occasion when Sweet Home children get married and start homes of their own. And it’s especially meaningful when the children return “home” to get married or to enjoy a special wedding reception. In May, the Sweet Home family celebrated the weddings of Bobby to Padmini and Satish to Manisha. Bobby’s father was a house parent at Sweet Home. He suddenly passed away during the COVID pandemic. To Bobby, the Sweet Home family continues to be his family.

Both Satish and Manisha are doctors. Satish brought his bride back home to enjoy the celebration of their marriage. It’s because of the support of ICC family members like YOU that these boys have had the opportunity to grow and develop and thrive within the Sweet Home family. Now they have started homes of their own with their brides.

Satish and Manisha returned to Sweet Home for their marriage ceremony. Similarly, another couple, Bobby and Padmini were also wed recently at Sweet Home. Congratulations to both couples!

A Special Baptism

Over the years, we have shared about Timothy Roan and how new chapters are being added to his remarkable story. His journey has taken him from being orphaned and living in a train station to joining the Sweet Home family, to being the president of his high school class, to obtaining bachelor and master’s degrees in Theology, to returning to Flaiz College as a teacher. Earlier this year, we shared that Timothy was ordained to the gospel ministry.

Timothy’s journey continues and with a “sweet touch.” In June, he baptized three of his younger Sweet Home brothers and one sister. God continues to do amazing things through Timothy, and he continues to pay forward your love and support.

Timothy, who was once an orphaned child, baptized 4 of his younger Sweet Home siblings.

A Special Message of Thanks

Rao and Susan Moturi provide leadership for the Sweet Home family.  Here is a special message of thanks from Rao.

“These and many other daily activities are made possible by our sponsors who love and care for our children.  We appreciate and are grateful to our sponsors and ICC administration’s support and guidance. Children enjoy a safe and secure environment on campus. They are nurtured by dedicated house parents and support staff to help them grow spiritually, physically and mentally. A BIG THANK YOU from each one of them to our sponsors individually and collectively.
