Dear Friend of the Children,
“Unto us a child is born!”
This joyful proclamation of the Savior’s birth continues to reverberate throughout the world, especially at Christmas time. And within the ICC family, the story of Christmas resonates with orphan children who desperately need the love and nurturing care that baby Jesus received from Joseph and Mary. This includes children like “Baby Grace.” I’ll tell you more about Grace and provide a link to a video where you can see her as well. But first, I want to share the following good news, just in time for Christmas!
I’m pleased to invite you to double the impact of your love and support for children! Once again, some of our dedicated ICC family members have offered a special matching challenge. Your participation is needed to make this a “Christmas of Hope” for the children.
From now until December 31, your special gift can be doubled to provide even more of a blessing for children. Please, if you are able, take advantage of this opportunity to help provide for the love and care that the children, like Grace, need.
Unto ICC a child was born.
Grace entered the world under the shadow of tragedy. While her mother was filled with hope and anticipation for the arrival of her third child, the joyful occasion quickly turned into a nightmare. During childbirth at the local clinic Grace’s mother experienced severe complications, including uterine rupture and hypovolemic shock.
Despite the best efforts to save both the mother and child, the mother’s condition deteriorated rapidly ultimately leading to her death. Grace, though delivered, was left without the warmth of her mother’s embrace, thrust into a world filled with uncertainty.
The circumstances surrounding Grace’s birth were filled with desperation and heartbreak. The community, witnessing this tragic event, felt the burden of loss not just for the mother but for her children’s future, especially Grace who would never experience her mother’s love. Recognizing the urgent need, the village leader brought Grace’s case to the attention of Désiré, director of ICC’s Patmos Children’s Village in the DR Congo.
ICC exists for such times as this, when a child is in desperate need of long-term support and nurturing care. I’m pleased to let you know that Désiré welcomed Grace into the ICC Patmos family. Unto us a child was born – and through the love and support of ICC family members like you, Grace will be able to thrive.
And just like the hills echoed with the jubilant song of the angels when Jesus was born, our Patmos family shouted and danced for joy when Grace arrived. You can witness this joyful celebration for yourself by accessing a short video using the QR code or URL. vimeo.com/ICCmedia/grace
As this year nears its end and our thoughts turn even more frequently to our loving Savior, Jesus, please remember the little ones like Grace in ICC’s care who have been given “Unto us.” These are the “least of these” that Jesus spoke about. And as we do for them, we are doing for Him!
And through the Christmas Hope Matching Challenge you can do even more for these children. To have the greatest impact for the children, we encourage you to give to the matching challenge a gift that is something extra beyond what you might normally give. Just mark this extra gift as “Christmas Hope Matching Challenge.”
In closing, I want to let you know that our project directors continue to ensure that the children receive the best care for the children and as cost effective as possible. The children continue to depend upon ICC family members like you during these difficult economic times. They have nowhere else to turn.
Thank you for what you continue to do for them. And may the love of our Heavenly Father and the grace given us through our Savior, Jesus, dwell in you richly this Christmas
On behalf of the children,
Rick Fleck
President
