ADRA Supported Music Building Opens
On July 17, the Las Palmas family was thrilled to join in the grand opening of their new music building. The building includes five practice rooms, a spacious and beautiful rehearsal hall for the orchestra and band, an administrative office, a dedicated space for storing musical instruments, and an area set aside for archiving materials and documents.
The five practice rooms were donated by ADRA, with the support of the X Foundation in Indonesia. Representatives from the foundation attended the opening ceremonies and expressed their delight at seeing this long-awaited dream become a reality. The children toured the facility as well with much enthusiasm.
Many of them expressed their gratitude and gave thanks to God for the opportunity to have such a special space in which to attend their music lessons. One of the students said, with great emotion: “Thank you, thank God for this wonderful gift. I want to study hard and learn to play all the instruments so that I can praise God and play in church.”
Testimonials such as this one reflect the positive impact this project will have on the lives of Las Palmas children. We are deeply grateful to God and for all those who have made this possible. This new facility will contribute to the holistic development of current and future generations and will strengthen the music ministry at Las Palmas.
Week of Prayer Programs Result in Baptisms
Last year, the Las Palmas school participated in two different Weeks of Prayer. These are special occasions for the children where additional time is given to consider important spiritual truths that will impact their lives now and through eternity.
The most recent week took place in April. The theme was “Live Without Fear, Follow His Will”. The presenter was Pastor Ricardo Peña, who joined the Las Palmas family in February to serve as a parent and English teacher.
The results from this special week was a great blessing. Six teenagers gave their lives to Jesus, making the decision to be baptized. Inspired by the message, these young people decided to follow Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him.
These weeks provided a valuable opportunity for spiritual growth for the children and staff. Las Palmas firmly believes that the most important thing in their lives is to develop a deep love for God and to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour. As a result of these two weeks of prayer, a total of eight students decided to give their lives to Jesus. This is a source of great satisfaction for the ICC and Las Palmas families and gives proof that God continues to work in their hearts.
Training to Serve
In July, the Las Palmas family actively took part in a youth evangelism event. This two-week program is part of the holistic spiritual life of the children and youth. The aim of the activities is to motivate and equip them to play an active part in missionary work, giving them the opportunity to share with others the blessings that God has given them.
The first week, Professor Juvenal, director of a youth missionary project in Colombia, led the program aimed at spreading the Gospel in the surrounding community. Throughout the week, a range of spiritual and wellbeing activities took place, including special devotions, health talks, early-morning exercise sessions, and afternoon missionary visits in the community.
One of the most significant aspects of this experience was the opportunity the young people had to be directly involved in personal evangelism. Accompanied by leaders and teachers, they visited the homes of their classmates who live in the community. During these visits, they shared messages of hope, sang, prayed with the families, and invited the young people and their parents to attend the evening programs.
Las Palmas children, teenagers and young people were blessed during this program, as they had the opportunity to share with others what Jesus has done in their lives. As well as strengthening their relationship with God, they developed skills in leadership, service, and Christian witness. This special program also reaffirmed Las Palmas’ commitment to training young missionaries who are dedicated to God and to serving others.
