October 20–26, 2024 is National Estate Planning Awareness Week
Are you ready to have a conversation about estate planning?
Here are a few questions to ask your loved ones so you can plan effectively.
- Guardianship: Who would I want to care for my children or pets should something happen to me?
- Health Decisions: What healthcare decisions would I want to be made if I could not make them? Who would I wish to represent me?
- Financial Management: Who would I want to make important financial decisions if I could not make them? Who would have our financial power of attorney?
- Readiness and Willingness: Are the chosen family members or friends aware of these roles and willing to perform them?
- Nonprobate Assets: Are the right people and organizations named as beneficiaries? Are assets such as an IRA, 401(k), and life insurance policy(s) accounted for in your will?
- Legacy: What causes do I want to support through my legacy?
