A Special Message Regarding Covid-19

In times of calamity and great distress, we find comfort in God’s word. While the rapid spread of Covid-19 and the resulting panic is putting our faith to the test, it’s important that we, like the Psalmist, recognize God’s faithfulness in caring for all “His Kids,” including ourselves.

“Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Psalm 91:9-11

During this world-wide pandemic, ICC remains in close communication with the children’s villages. They each are implementing protocols of social distancing, hand washing and other hygiene measures, as well as limiting visitors. Off-campus trips are being limited to the most urgent things.

Our ICC support staff in the US have suspended all travel to children’s projects until travel restrictions are lifted. Where possible, office staff are working from home as part of the “shelter in place” recommendations

While all these precautions are being taken, please know that this ministry for children continues. After all, they were placed with ICC because they need the sheltering care of a loving family. With God’s blessing and the generous support of caring individuals like you, we will continue to provide for them.

As of now, none of our children or staff have been infected with Covid-19.

However, there have been other illnesses – some quite severe. For instance, in Guatemala several of our children have been fighting another virus similar to Covid-19. And in the DR Congo, a malaria outbreak has once again caused suffering to the children.

The children continue to depend on all of us as we face the future together. As an example, Desire, our project director in Congo, recently wrote an urgent message:

Rwanda closed its border this morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. then they reopened saying that foreigners should be allowed to go back to their homes because from Monday 03/23/2020 the borders will be closed for two months…

As the market prices start to rise due to insufficient supply, we ask to make a transfer today as far as possible because we can find or withdraw the money before the date of 03/23/2020 which is the date the borders will be closed.

If you do not act today there will be a catastrophic life at the Patmos Children’s Village for the next two months. May the Lord guide you in making decisions to save lives at the Patmos Children’s Village.

With the rapid, freefalling economy and uncertainty in the world, please consider giving generously so that the ongoing needs of the children can be met. You can give a secure donation by clicking on that pink “Donate Today” button. Thank you!
