Dear Friend of the Children,
I want to share a special greeting on behalf of ICC children. I pray that this letter finds you and your family experiencing God’s rich blessings.
I’m writing to let you know about an important and timely opportunity to positively impact the lives of the children this month.
A generous ICC family member has helped to establish a Summer of Care Matching Challenge that can double the impact of your support for the children this summer. This includes children like twins Ernesto and Alanso, who I’ll tell you more about in a moment.
But first, let me share that economic factors are affecting our ability to provide for the children. All of us have experienced the rapid rise in the cost of fuel. However, there is another economic factor that is not widely discussed, and which is causing financial challenges for our children and their care.
The US dollar has been depreciating in value across the globe, including countries where ICC serves. ICC creates project budgets in US dollars. When the local currency strengthens against the dollar, it takes more dollars to sustain the same level of care. And ICC projects experience their own residual local inflation.
Also, added to these challenges at the children’s villages, donations dwindle during the summer months. This creates a double bind. Resources are stretched thin at a time when needs in the children’s villages are escalating.
But there is an opportunity to provide hope – and YOU can help!
Any “extra gift” above what you normally give will be matched, dollar for dollar, until the end of June or until the challenge goal of $50,000 is met. Your extra $50 gift transforms into $100, and $200 becomes $400. This doubles the impact of your support and helps to ensure the children have their needs met this summer. Two of the children who will be blessed by your support this summer are eight-year-old twins, Ernesto and Alanso.
Their mother is a single parent. Her only means of support for her nine children was to wash other people’s clothes two or three times per week. Family life became impossible not long ago when her partner came home drunk and broke one of her wrists. She could not work or provide for the children. ICC was created for moments just like this.
Ernesto, Alanso and two of their siblings are now receiving quality care at ICC’s Los Pinos Children’s Village, but that care can only continue with the ongoing support of ICC family members like you!
Won’t you help to provide the care that orphan and vulnerable children like Ernesto and Alanso need?
Help us match or exceed the challenge total of $100,000! This will help provide nutritious food at mealtimes, medical attention, appropriate summer clothing, and nurturing care from ICC house parents at Los Pinos and other ICC children’s villages. This will help make possible a “Summer of Care” for children like the twins.
